Chelsea to return for Stones in January

Chelsea will make a new bid for John Stones when the transfer window re-opens in January. This will be Chelsea’s 5th attempt to sign the England international.

Throughout the summer Roberto Martinez kept insisting Stones would not leave Everton as he was a big part of their future and the Merseyside club rejected 4 bids from Chelsea despite the 21 year old handing in a transfer request.

It has been reported Chelsea bid in excess of £32m over the summer therefore January’s bid is likely to be higher unless the centre backs current situation changes.

The mirror are reporting that if Chelsea want their man they are going to have to pay close to £40m for him. Stones will have 3 years remaining on his contract with Everton at the end of the season, something which won’t help his price tag.

Stones would certainly be a great addition for Chelsea and could form a strong partnership with Kurt Zouma or Gary Cahill in our defence in years to come. John Terry is a player who can never be replaced but John Stones could certainly help fix the gap he will leave when he retires or leaves Chelsea. However a deal close to £40m is certainly a huge amount for a 21 year old.
