The future of Chelsea

Chelsea currently have one of the best youth systems in world football but is this going to be the reason that stops Roman Abramovich in his money spending ways?

Chelsea fans may know that not many players have successfully came through the youth academy the last was John Terry and we all know how long ago that was. Last season Chelsea youth won the UEFA youth league and the FA youth cup with Isaiah Brown and Jordan Houghton leading them young blues to glory.

The Premier League Champions currently have 32 players out on loan covering the majority of Europe with players in England all the way to Holland and Turkey but could there be the possibility of there being a Chelsea B as the club have enough players to fill in another squad, it would be interesting if the club approach the FA about the idea but only time can tell.

With the expansion of Stamford Bridge the money may be limit which could mean some of the youth players may get a chance so I will be predicting the top ten academy players who could make the grade at Chelsea.

10. Ola Aina

The dynamic full back has been an ever presence in the u21’s back line and could potentially be in the gaffer’s plans, the England international is yet to make an appearance for the blues but has been name in the provisional squad for this season Premier league and has be named in the B list for the UEFA champions league squad alongside fellow graduate Ruben Loftus-Cheek. With Aina’s ability to bomb down the wing and be an extra attacking threat he could be someone who makes the grade at Chelsea.

9. Jamal Blackman

Big blacks has been around the club for what it feels for a very long time. Jamal made his first bench appearance back in 2011 as Chelsea lost 3-5 at home to fierce rivals Arsenal but since then he has only made a handful of bench appearances and is yet to make his Chelsea debut.

The 6 ft 6 goalkeeper wont be like many of the other academy graduates as he is a goalkeeper and with Courtois the current first team goalkeeper the Belgian international will most likely have that position on lock down for the next 10 years but Jamal Blackman will probably play the Hilario role where he is at the club for a very long time winning loads of trophies but not featuring in many games maybe 4-5 games minimum a season.

8. Tammy Abraham

Dom Solanke’s partner in crime; Tammy Abraham managed to collect himself an astonishing 41 goals in all competitions last season but could the 17 year old be on his way to the top? If the striker manages to continue his form into the next few seasons he could be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans. The England international is yet to make an appearances for the senior team but could make a few sub appearances in the coming season.

7. Nathaniel Chalobah

Currently out on loan to Italian giant SSC Napoli the England u21 international could be part of Chelsea’s future, the player is yet to make an appearance at the club despite making a breakthrough into the first team squad back in 2012. With loans out at Middlesbrough, Watford, Forest, Reading, Burnley and now Napoli the midfielder will be trying his best to improve his footballing ability and make a massive statement to Mourinho and to make a push for a first team spot soon. Nathaniel is a strong holding midfielder with a great passing ability which could make him the perfect fit in the premier league once he is given a chance.

6. Kasey Palmer

The man who can make a goal of the season competition his own; Kasey Palmer is the man to beat right now the young Englishman has been an outstanding performer last season, banging in some absaloutly worldy’s but could be the next big English attacking midfielder with his exquisit skills and ability to beat his man Kasey Palmer could be the one to watch in the coming years. If I was to pick this would be the man I would have, he has a great ability to read the game and with him, Boga and Musonda linking up no defences could stop them.

5. Jeremie Boga

The French wonder kid is currently out on loan at Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais with a buyout clause of just a minor £60 million so it shows how much the club want him, before going out to France the attacking midfielder signed a new 5 year deal at the club which means he is apart of Jose Mourinho’s future plans (If the Portuguese manager is still at the club) The youngster has the ability to produce something out of nothing and has a wicked free kick on him. The Frenchman is yet to appear for the senior team but could be a key player within the next 5 years.

4. Isaiah Brown

One of many players out on loan at Eredivise side Vitesse, Izzy Brown has a bright future ahead of him despite only making 1 appearance for the senior side and that was in a 3-0 defeat away to his former side West Brom where he got a hostile reception from the Albion fans. So far this season Isaiah has made 4 appearance in the league this season but also played in both legs in their Europa League defeat to premier league side, Southampton. Brown has a bright future ahead of him.

3. Charly Musonda

Belgium’s next thing Musonda has all ready caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in Europe but the Belgians future will most likely be at Chelsea if he is given the chance the skillful winger is always showing off his skills on social media but can he did it on the pitch? Yes he can, Charly was one of the key players in Chelsea’s Fa youth cup and UEFA youth league winning campaign and could you could be hearing his name more in the coming season.

2. Dominic Solanke

It takes two men to make a partnership with Solanke and Abraham making a deadly partnership but Dominic was the one who got given the chance by Mourinho as he made a sub appearance against Maribor in the Champions league last season. The young forward scored 37 goals last season and will hope to continue his form into the new season as he is on loan at Vitesse, the Englishman hopes to make his claim in the Dutch league and will hope to be a part of the gaffer’s plans in the next few seasons.

1. Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Is the Englishman the next big thing to come out of Chelsea’s new found academy talents? The young midfielder has a presence midfield which will scare the opposition, Mourinho has taken a liking in the kid as he blocked any possible loan move this summer despite Vitesse Arnhem having an interest in the midfield phenomenon.

Mourinho has shown a lot of faith in the midfielder by starting him in games vs Liverpool & West Brom  where he impressed and completed 97% of his passes which shows he has an eye for a pass. The Englishman was a part of England u21 disappointing European championship campaign where he only made 1 appearance in the last game where he showed his stuff on the international stage and now is a regular in Gareth Southgate’s team.

Since Mourinho criticism of the player he has shown that he is the man for the task and if he continues his progress he will become one of the hottest prospects in world football.
