Chelsea considering Victor Valdes in an emergency loan deal

Jose Mourinho wants to bring in a new goalkeeper on an emergency loan after our regular keeper Thibaut Courtois has picked up a knee injury which is going to keep him out for around 3 months.

Victor Valdes was placed on the transfer list over the summer after falling out with Louis Van Gaal and after not playing as much as he would have liked, he’s keen for a move. Spanish news reporters The Fichajes report Chelsea are considering the Spaniard.

Asmir Begovic is now our first choice goalkeeper filling in for Courtois. This means Jamal Blackman is our backup keeper and will now be featuring on our bench each game. The youngster returned to Chelsea this season after his loan spell with Middlesbrough and Mourinho is keen to get another backup keeper due to his lack of experience.

Blackman has never played a league game in his professional career at senior level. However he did feature for Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup against Liverpool at Anfield last season.

David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid collapsed on deadline day and last Friday he signed a new deal with Manchester United. This means Valdes remains at the bottom of the pecking order behind De Gea, new signing Romero and in recent weeks youth keeper Johnstone has even made the bench over him.

A deal for Valdes shouldn’t be too difficult due to both Van Gaal and Valdes wanting him out but it depends if we get the emergency loan granted and if the club want to go with Valdes or our youth.
