Why we should be against Mourinho’s defensive strategy

“I left Hazard out as we have been conceding too many goals. We needed more stability and effort.” These were the words of Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho after Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over fellow struggler’s: Aston Villa.

Mourinho is very strict when it comes to his players work rates; but is he slowly ruining his best players?

Eden Hazard is known for his attacking prowess but his attacking ability might be getting destroyed by Mourinho wanting him to track back and cover our left back, to be honest when do you see the likes of Ronaldo and Messi do this? hardly ever. I am not comparing the abilities of Hazard to Messi and Ronaldo but i’m making a point that our key players shouldn’t have to do another man’s job.

Jose Mourinho has in the past sold attacking players for not tracking back; Andre Schurrle and Juan Mata are two main examples, both incredible players who failed to make the grade under Mourinho due to their work rate.

Mourinho has criticized his attacking players for failing to defend but when it’s a defender’s job to defend and they don’t there is no criticize what so ever (Saying no names). If Mourinho wants more players to defend then he clearly needs to change the formation as having two holding midfielder is clearly not good enough, he should play a 433 where players like Oscar will have a more defensive job but will allow him to attack. Forwards should be forwards and only forwards the shouldn’t have to do another man’s job which distracts them from their own job and they don’t perform as well.

I’m not saying Mourinho should be sacked; I’m just saying that he needs to change his defensive strategy.
