What is going wrong for Chelsea this season?

If we turn the clock back 5 months, Chelsea were lifting the 2014-15 Barclays Premier League – now we are 15th in the table having lost 5 of our 10 games with 11 points.

Last season our team was lightyears ahead of the rest. So what has changed and what has gone wrong for Chelsea this season?

Our defence is lacking the pace, strength and overall lack of being able to close down teams. Ivanovic’s form has dropped dramatically which has lead to a lot of Chelsea’s defensive mistakes. The injury to Courtios is also a large factor in this, as he would keep the defence together and it there was any mistakes in the defence he would pull off some astonishing saves to keep other teams from scoring.

Our midfield is lacking pace, last season Hazard was by far one of the best players in the league if not the best, and went on to win the PFA’s Player of the Year award. This season he seems to have lost the incredible pace he had and his sight for goal, teams now have realised how to stop Hazard which is proving to be a massive problem for Chelsea.

Our attack is lacking goal scoring opportunities wether that be the delivery or the finish. We have not got to the goal scoring threat that we were at this time last season with Diego Costa.

A lot needs to change for Chelsea to be successful this season wether that be changes in the team in the next transfer window, or just giving the players the confidence for the games ahead and attempt to keep morale to the highest level possible.

The confidence seems to be much lower than last season as then we started with winning ways and were much higher up in the table than we are now. If the team has no confidence they will not play to their full potential that we know that they have especially players like Hazard, Costa, Fabregas, Matic and Terry as we know how well that they can play.

A change of manager is what we do not need at this point in the season. If we did change managers I feel it will be Chelsea starting to panic as Mourinho said he would only leave if he was sacked. It would take time for a new manager to set his plans out with the team for the season. I have full confidence and trust in Jose to get us back to winning ways and at this point a change of manager will leave us in a worse position that we are in now.
