We have returned to that time of year when various media outlets start to report on deals that could potentially happen across the footballing world.
The January transfer window is vastly approaching, and Jose Mourinho could potentially be looking at bringing in multiple fresh faces in order to turn our season around, after such a woeful first half.
Coming into this campaign as Premier League champions, Mourinho’s side have struggled to grind out difficult results or win the big games, something they did so well last season. Taking this into account, there’s no wonder as to why the Blues have been linked with so many players, so let’s take a look at some of the names that could potentially be arriving in West London when the window finally opens.
The first link is when The Mirror reported that Chelsea are interested in Southampton’s Sadio Mane. The winger provided the Blues with many problems when the two sides met at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season, and would provide further threat to the Chelsea attacking line.
Next link to be found is from The Mirror again, who are also reporting that Jose Mourinho’s side are interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Dembele, who’s recieved many plaudits for his peformances this season. The Blues have been lacking quality in the holding midfield role since Nemanja Matic’s form is dropped, so could the Spurs man help tighten up the midfield?
We are all aware that Chelsea are having problems with strikers, and with Diego Costa reportedly unsettled and could potentially be rejoining Atletico Madrid, the Blues have been linked with forwards from elsewhere. In form Jamie Vardy has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, alongside Harry Kane and Emmanuel Adebayor, by The Telegraph.
Heading away from the Premier League, Calcio Mercato have reported that Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Boca Juniors’ striker, Jonathan Calleri. If a deal was to take place, the English side would have to apply for a work permit. It’s believed that the deal is valued at around £10m, so the Blues must have seen something they like.
And finally, Chelsea have been linked with a Blackburn Rovers flop earlier this morning. Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that the West London outfit are interested in a move for Nikola Kalinic. Despite his poor form at the English club, Kalinic is now at Fiorentina and has 10 goals in 13 appearances for the Italian side.
It’s obvious that Chelsea are bound to get linked to most players, so expect to see more roundup’s from Chelsea News when they’re needed.
