Preview
Chelsea travel to North London to face an inform Tottenham side. The Blues will be hoping to make it 3 wins from 3 but Sunday’s game will be one of Chelsea’s toughest yet.
Tottenham are in great form having only lost 1 Premier League game this season on the opening day against Manchester United. A large factor of Tottenham’s recent form is due to Harry Kane. The striker has scored 9 goals in his last 6 matches in all competitions.
If Chelsea are to come away with a good result keeping Kane quiet will be vital. Our defence will have strong memories after he scored two past us in our 5-3 defeat at White Hart Lane last season.
But Chelsea have performed better in the last few weeks and in our last 2 games have collected 3 points too.
In our last league game the likes of Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic, John Terry and Kurt Zouma were all key performers vs Norwich and replicated some of their performances from last season so Chelsea certainly can’t be written off.
Match details
Sunday, 29th November, kick off at 12:00 pm (UK Time) at White Hart Lane on BT Sport 1.
Recent form and previous meetings
Chelsea have picked up some good results in their last 5 games having won 3 (Dynamo Kyiv, Norwich and Maccabi Tel Aviv) and losing 2 (Liverpool and Stoke).
Tottenham meanwhile have won 4 of their last 5 with their draw coming away to Arsenal. The 4 teams they beat were Aston Villa, Anderlecht, West Ham and Qarabag.
In the last ten meetings between the two sides Chelsea have won 5, there have been 4 draws and Tottenham winning just 1.
In the last 10 meetings at White Hart Lane Chelsea have only won 3, like Tottenham meaning the other 4 games ending level.
Team news
Chelsea have 2 certainties to miss the game in Radamel Falcao and Thibaut Courtois. Mourinho hasn’t set a date for Falcao’s return but said he expects Courtois to be back in the middle of December. Both Ramires and John Terry are doubts. The two didn’t train today but Mourinho confirmed there’s small hope they may play.
Nabil Bentaleb and Erik Lamela are both expected to return on Sunday after two respective injuries. Lamela also returns from his one match domestic suspension. Whereas Dele Alli’s 1 match domestic suspension will be against us. Nacer Chadli will miss the game too but through injury. He’s not expected back until early December.
Chelsea have picked up a small bit of momentum in recent games and have looked to play better football. But I think Tottenham and Harry Kane will be too strong for us to overcome.
My prediction: Tottenham 3-1 Chelsea.
