Chelsea striker Diego Costa is expected to return to Jose Mourinho’s starting XI for their game against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday, following the decision to drop the Spaniard to the bench for the 0-0 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane last weekend.
The former Atletico Madrid forward, who is usually Mourinho’s first choice striker when fit, was named amongst the substitutes for the goalless draw against Mauricio Pochettino’s side. After finding out that he wasn’t selected, Costa did not attend the pre-match warm up or post-match warm down, and also decided to lob a bib towards his manager after he knew he wasn’t coming on.
It has since been acknowledged that the Blues will not be taking the incident any further, but the West London outfit are going to monitor Costa’s attitude, following the incident between himself and the manager in the 4-0 win over Tel Aviv in the Champions League.
However, all the negativity surrounding Costa is set to be put behind him with the rest of the squad in his corner, including the manager who is going to select the Spaniard as his striker against Bournemouth.
