Feelings are raw at the club after a momentous week at the club. It has been very emotional after the sacking of the club’s most successful manager: Jose Mourinho. Chelsea’s game on Saturday often felt more like a ‘Shakespearean theatrical’ rather than a football match. The vast majority of the fans made it clear that Jose’s departure was a bitter pill to swallow after all he has given for the club.
Former player and current Chelsea TV presented: Pat Nevin seemed to get himself into a bit of crossfire with Spanish midfielder, Cesc Fabregas after reports came out that during Mourinho’s reign a player came out and said that he would rather lose than win under Mourinho. Many were led to believe it was Cesc Fabregas he said these words, but in recent days less people are believing this as new reports have come out saying that Fabregas was one of Mourinho’s biggest supporters.
When the quotes were mentioned to Pat Nevin he replied, “Yeah, that was Cesc Fabregas, wasn’t it?”
Mourinho had put a lot of faith in Fabregas despite his dip in form and in Mourinho’s last two games Fabregas found himself dropped after two woeful performances against Bournemouth and Tottenham. The Secret Footballers website where the quotes came from had apologised in a company statement for wrongly claiming was the leader of a dressing room revolt against Mourinho.
Fabregas responded on twitter by saying:
I would like to clarify that contrary to a few reports from some online websites, I am happy at Chelsea and have an excellent relationship with the manager. There may be certain individuals from the outside trying to destabilise this club, but I strongly believe that we will bounce back.
Since Pat Nevin’s apology Fabregas has posted this on Instagram.
