After Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s impressive performance against Scunthorpe on Sunday afternoon, England international, Gary Cahill, believes that the young midfielder can emulate the success of Tottenham’s Dele Alli this season.
Alli joined Tottenham from MK Don’s in the January transfer window last year but was loaned out for the rest of the season; the young box to box midfielder has been very impressive for Tottenham having already received a full international call up. Alli has already registered 5 goals and 3 assists under the guidance of Mauricio Potchettino.
Cahill is confident that Ruben will get the chance to prove himself under interim manager, Guus Hiddink. Here is what he’s had to say.
Ruben has had a couple of runs in the team and I think he’s a top, top player. If you look at the attributes, he’s got all the attributes. It’s just how he progresses. Obviously, that’s down to him getting a few chances and down to himself, so it will be interesting to see how he does progress. But for me, he has got everything you need to become a top player. Dele Alli’s rise has been incredibly fast and why can’t Ruben do it?Â
Loftus-Cheek, an England under 21 international, has been earmarked as one of the outstanding talents to come out of the Chelsea academy. Jody Morris hailed him as the English Yaya Toure due to his physical prowess and technical ability.
