Preview
Chelsea travel North to the Stadium MK to face Milton Keynes Dons in the 4th round of the FA Cup – Sunday’s match will be the first competitive match in the two clubs history.
To get to the 4th round Chelsea overcame Scunthorpe at Stamford Bridge. Thanks to an own goal and then Loftus-Cheek’s first goal for Chelsea we progressed with a 2-0 victory.
Ahead of that match many expected Chelsea to field a weakened side with a lot of youth players but that wasn’t the case and it’s expected Guus Hiddink will go with the same approach this weekend and field a strong side.
With a European spot looking unlikely for Chelsea, the FA Cup has grown in importance for us as it could become the only route for us to secure European football next season.
Chelsea have also failed to win the FA Cup since 2012 after having an extremely successful period of winning it 4 times out of 6.
Match Details
Sunday, 31st January, kick off: 4:00pm at Stamford Bridge on BBC 1.
Recent Form
Chelsea’s form has certainly picked up recently with the likes of Diego Costa looking back to his best. In our last 5 matches we’ve won 3 (Crystal Palace, Scunthorpe and Arsenal) and drawn 2 (West Brom and Everton). Our last defeat came against Leicester in mid December.
For MK Dons they can’t say quite the same about their recent form having lost to Burnely and Bolton in their last 5 games. Drawing against Northampton and also beating Northampton in the replay and Reading.
Team News
Radamel Falcao will be out of Sunday’s clash with MK Dons. There are reports suggesting Loic Remy will be out too.
There are no suspensions for the game.
My prediction
MK Dons 1-3 Chelsea
