Willian wins Chelsea’s Player of the Year Award

The end of season awards are here, as Chelsea fans and players head down to the bridge to celebrate this seasons achievements at senior and youth level. Although it hasn’t be the best season for the first team, there have a been a number of stand out players and moments that caught everyone’s eyes. Tonight will determine who will win the player of the year, player’s player of the year, young player of the year, youth player of the year and goal of the season. Lets see who received these accolades:

Young Player of the Year – Ruben Loftus-Cheek: It hasn’t been easy for the youngster to break into the first team, but when he has been given the chance; he has excelled. In 16 appearances for the club, Ruben has bagged himself 2 goals and 2 assists with the majority of his appearances coming off the bench. It is a huge year up a head for the 20 year old who will look to cement his place in the first team.

Players Payer of the Year – Willian: There is no surprise here. Willian has been an outstanding player for the majority of the season, maintaining the hopes of millions of Chelsea fan as the team fell further and further down the table. The Brazilian has played 48 games this season, scoring 11 goals and getting 7 assists.

Goal of the Season – Eden Hazard vs Tottenham: When Chelsea looked down and out, Eden Hazard stepped up and showed why he on his day, he is the best player in the league. Superb run from deep led to a quick one two with Costa then the Belgian beautifully placed the ball into the top corner and ended Tottenham’s title hopes.

Special Recognition Award – John Terry: The captain receives an award after reaching 700 appearances for the club this season.

Academy Player of the Year – Fikayo Tomori: The Canadian has been outstanding for the youth team this season, stepping up for the big occasions, as he scored in the UEFA youth league and the FA youth cup finals.  The 18 year old defender has scored 6 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions and has been rewarded for his performances by featuring on the bench for the first team against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Player of the Year – Willian: The Brazilian wins his second award of the night, after a majestic season with the blues. Scoring vital goals in important games. Without the man with the ‘good vibes’, the blues wouldn’t have made it into the knock-out stages in the Champions league.
