It’s looking increasingly likely that centre-back Antonio Rüdiger will join Chelsea in the summer.
Roma secured a permanent deal for the German defender from Stuttgart for €9 million earlier this week after impressing last campaign and cementing his place in central defence alongside Kostas Manolas.
However, just days after Roma secured the contractual rights for the defender, it is understood that the Italian giants will offload the German for a quick profit if their preferred price tag of £17-20 million is met and, the player’s agents reportedly travelled over to London on Wednesday for talks with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and director Marina Granovskaia.
Rüdiger would be a good signing for Chelsea, but a terrible piece of short-sighted business on Roma’s part.
