Chelsea have opened talks for Juventus striker Alvaro Morata following Arsenal’s swoop for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, Telegraph reports.
Everton forward Romelu Lukaku and the Spain international have been emerged as Chelsea’s top transfer targets this summer, and the negotiations are now taking place with the latter.
Juventus were also keen on the big Belgian, but sorted a loan move for Morata instead, who is currently owned by Real Madrid.
The 27-goal hitman has been impressive during his two loan seasons for the Italian side, but could be sold elsewhere by Real Madrid this summer, with several Premier League clubs interested.
The Spanish giants have a £23 million release-clause on the player, but value him to be worth of £40m.
Morata has expressed interest on making a move to the English top-flight, and would like to get his future clarified before Euro 2016 starting this week with Spain.
