Alongside Manchester United, Chelsea are being offered Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez by the player’s agent, Daily Express reports.
Niguez had a solid season for the La Liga side, making 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing four assists.
Thanks to his spectacular performances, the 21-year-old earned himself a new contract at the club, keeping him at the Vicente Calderon until 2021 and increasing his release clause to £68million.
The midfielder himself was delighted with the contract extension, but his agent Jorge Mendes hasn’t shared his client’s enthusiasm and is desperately trying to set him for a big money move to the Premier League.
Mendes has tried to get in touch with Chelsea and Manchester United, but his efforts of creating a deal for the player have so far been unsuccessful.
Atletico are reluctant of selling Niguez, as they are unsure whether they can keep the manager Diego Simeone at the club, as he’s reportedly sick and tired of constantly losing his star players.
