British billionaire Sir Richard Branson has thrown a big pile of trash talk on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s back, the CNBC reports.
In an interview for Collective Hub magazine, Branson disliked Roman Abramovich for using his money ‘wrong’, claiming he’s spending fortunes just to buy yachts and other meaningless property.
He’s got six yachts which are just gigantic and you think, ‘What a waste of money’. He could transform so many people’s lives if he put that money to good use.
I think it’s sad when people make a lot of money and they want the biggest boat or the biggest car or the biggest plane.
Abramovich is well known of owning one the biggest yachts in the whole world – the 536-foot “Eclipse” – but along that and Chelsea, the Russian also owns properties in Aspen, Colorado; St. Bart’s; France; and London, England; as well as a Boeing 767.
According to Bloomberg’s data, Abramovich has a net worth at around $10 billion, while Branson at around $5 billion.
Regardless of Branson’s comments – the man who owns a private island, a submarine and a sailing yacht – Abramovich is also a very charitable person, as last week’s reports claimed him to be the largest donor on the “Fulfilling Dreams” charity programme, which granted 55 African children the opportunity to come and see matches in this summer’s Euro 2016 in France.
Abramovich has been the owner of Chelsea Football Club since 2003, and thanks to his fundings, our club has got as high as now. After his arrival, the West London club were soon crowded as Premier League champions in 2005, for only the second time in the club’s history.
Since then, he has helped the Blues to win trophies all-around England and Europe. He’s also seen in almost every home match during Chelsea’s season, and his love towards the club is surely felt by the fans.
