Chelsea have been forced to wait for another 24 hours until the results from John Terry’s injury last night are confirmed, The Telegraph reports.
The time is ticking and Blues boss Antonio Conte is waiting with bated breath if captain Terry is going to be sidelined over Chelsea’s next fixture against Liverpool this Friday.
Terry suffered a bad-looking ankle injury on the final minutes of the match in last night’s draw at Swansea, and the Blues skipper was forced to leave the Liberty Stadium with crutches.
Conte was expecting to know Terry’s situation today, but the scan has been scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) as the Chelsea medicals wait on the ankle’s swelling to go down.
If the 35-year-old is ruled out from the Liverpool clash, Chelsea’s newly re-signed David Luiz could be the man to replace Terry and perform his second debut for the West London club.
Marcos Alonso, who was also a deadline day signing this summer, is capable of playing as a center-back, but is preferred to be chosen into a full-back’s role.
