Klopp: “Conte is the Pep of Turin”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as the ‘Pep Guardiola of Juventus’, as the Reds prepare to take on the so-far-undefeated Chelsea side this Friday, talkSPORT reports.

The Italian won three successive Serie A titles during his three seasons in Turin, and went on to take the worst Italian team on the paper to European Championship quarter-finals afterwards, before joining Chelsea.

Klopp shares a lot of similarities with Conte considering the enthusiasm, passion and involvement from the touchline, but doesn’t want the two of them to be widely compared.

I don’t know Antonio good enough to know why he is doing it – I know for myself and, as I’ve said a few times, it just happens to me.

He looks quite emotional, even when they don’t score. Obviously he is involved in the game, but that’s not the most important thing.

The very important thing is he is a great manager, something like the ‘Pep Guardiola of Juventus’ if you want.

He created their special type of play and had a very successful time there and with the national team.

It is quite impressive what he has done until now, but I don’t play against Antonio Conte.

Klopp has also spoke about Chelsea’s ‘world class warrior’ named Diego Costa, who is currently enjoying a wonderful start to the Premier League season after scoring four goals in four games.

The Spaniard rescued his side a point in a disappointing display in Wales against Swansea City, as he claimed the Man of the Match award by scoring two superbly taken goals.

As hated and criticized as Costa is, the German manager thinks the hatred shown for the striker is only a proof of his amazing talent.

He is world class and that is the best thing football fans can say about you. If other supporters love you it is not a good sign.

He is a real warrior on the pitch, he uses his body all the time and that is a quality. He was nearly unstoppable against Swansea.
