According to Daily Mirror, Chelsea are stepping up their interest on Atletico Madrid star Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco, who has a £35m release-clause on his contract with the Spanish side.
The Belgium international has been in fine form for the La Liga leaders this season, and it’s expected that Diego Simeone will table a contract extension in near future to ward off all outside interest.
Despite having a trouble solving the problems in the defensive ranks, Antonio Conte is reportedly keen on bolstering the attack with a few new signings in January, and Ferreira-Carrasco is seen as a great fit to the first-team squad.

Corriere Dello Sport have reported that Chelsea have also joined the race to sign the 17-year-old wonder-kid Gianluigi Donnarumma as Thibaut Courtois’s commitment for the West London side bends to slip a little at times.
It’s not going to be a cheap deal in any case, as Milan have reportedly risen the Italian goalkeeper’s valuation from €40m to €60-70m.
Donnarumma recently made his senior debut for the Azzurri, and Conte – as a former Italy’s national side boss – is a huge fan of the promising player.
He is expected to sign a new contract with Milan once he turns 18, but it’s only a matter of time when the financially fluctuating club are prepared to cash out on him.
