Chelsea consider contract offer for Pepe

Chelsea are reportedly interested in making a move for Real Madrid center-back Pepe, whose contract with the club runs out at the end of the season, Mirror reports.

The Portuguese defender is a free agent at the end of the season, which gives him the permission to negotiate and sign a new deal with another club, starting from January 1st.

Pepe is ready to consider a move to Chelsea after his ugly contract stand-off with the Spanish Giants.

Real Madrid have offered Pepe a one-year contract extension but his advisors are holding out for a two-year deal.

Chelsea are keen on landing the 33-year-old ahead of other European big clubs this summer, as Blues boss Antonio Conte wants to bolster the defence with new center-halves.

The West London side have also set their sights on a fresh £49m bid for AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli, who Chelsea tried signing already this summer.
