Chelsea join the race for highly-rated German defender

Chelsea have joined the race to sign highly-rated Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule, according to the Mirror.

The Mirror report that Antonio Conte enquired about the possibility of signing Sule in the summer transfer window. They note that he will face competition from both Everton and Bayern Munich in the race for the German’s signature.

The tabloid believe that Conte is in the market to strengthen his defence. Our back-three have conceded just one goal in their last seven Premier League games, but with Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry both entering the final years of their contracts – we could find ourselves in need of reinforcements.

At 21-years-old, Sule has already become a cornerstone of the Hoffenheim side, as well has making his debut for the German national team.

Roman Abramovich already has Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen, two of the most promising centre-backs in Europe, on his books. The prospect of adding another to Conte’s squad is an exciting thought.
