Chelsea consider £12.5m offer for Fenerbahce star

After missing out on several targets ahead of this January, Antonio Conte has decided to make Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer as one his potential options this winter, ESPN reports.

The Blues are yet to make an offer for the 27-year-old defender, but the team have show interest for the player for some time now, and could be plotting a £12.5m bid for him.

Kjaer is reportedly happy to stay at the Turkish side and the club are reluctant to sell their key player, but a strong bid could tempt Fenerbahce to open the talks with Chelsea.

The Denmark international has made 18 appearances for his side this season scoring three goals.

Conte is determined to add a new defender to his ranks in January and has expressed his interest on a few other players as well, but missed out on a bunch of options. Ajax’s Riechedly Bazoer is on his way to Wolfsburg, Niklas Sule set for Bayern Munchen switch, and Leonardo Bonucci today renewed his contract with Juventus to keep him at the club until 2021.

In addition to Kjaer, Chelsea are monitoring Southampton center-back Virgil Van Dijk, Roma’s Antonio Rudiger and Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli.
