Chelsea have be drawn to play against Peterborough United on the third round of the FA Cup, the club have confirmed on their official website.
The draw for the next round tie was already completed earlier, but as Chelsea were placed to face either Peterborough or Nottingham County, the two sides had to battle for their place against the Blues first.
Peterborough, sitting sixth in the League One table at the moment, cruised to a 2-0 victory past the League Two side last night (Tuesday), as two goals inside the first ten minutes were enough to kill the game off for the blue-shirts. County missed a penalty and hit the woodwork while down by two, but eventually couldn’t find the back of the net.
This will be the third time Chelsea meet Peterborough in the very same competition, and the last two meetings have been very one-sided. In 1965 Chelsea cruised to a 5-0 victory, while in 2001 the Blues made it even better by winning the third-tier side 5-0.
Both of the last two meetings against Peterborough were played at Stamford Bridge, and so will this one, on 8th of January 2017.
