Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, who is currently on loan at Eredivisie side Ajax, is reportedly on his way out of the club, and Chelsea have emerged as the shock favourites to land the Netherlands international, Daily Express reports.
The Blues have been very active this month with the selling, as midfielders Oscar and John Obi Mikel left for China before Patrick Bamford made his return to Middlesborough on permanent basis.
However, there’s yet to be anyone new signed this term, but Krul has emerged as a possible replacement for Asmir Begovic, who is reportedly heading to Bournemouth before the winter transfer window closes at the turn of the month.
Chelsea have already rejected a £10m for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, as they’ve set a £12m price-tag for the 29-year-old.
Conte has also emphasized the importance of signing a replacement before letting Begovic go, as Thibaut Courtois needs a quality back-up should something happen to him during the remainder of the campaign.
