Chelsea maintained a glorious nine-point lead on the top of the Premier League table following a crucial 3-1 victory over Arsenal in yesterday’s thrilling contest between the two London greats.
Marcos Alonso nodded in the rebound from Diego Costa’s glancing header on the first half, before flying winger Eden Hazard made it two with an astounding solo effort.
Cesc Fabregas then lobbed in the third from ex-Chelsea keeper Petr Cech’s wayward clearance, but manager Antonio Conte stated he was left disappointed with the late injury time goal from Olivier Giroud, which made the scores look slightly less embarrassing from the Gunners’ point of view.

The result means Arsenal are now 12 points behind the Blues and have basically dropped off the title race for that reason. Tottenham’s narrow 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough kept the team in the second place of the table, but it won’t come easy for them either to be able to chase down Conte’s men with the Blues performing in this kind of form.
