With Chelsea rolling seemingly unstoppably towards the title, it will be scary for other teams to hear that the Blues are already preparing for a record breaking summer of reinforcement.
That’s according to the Metro, who today claim that the Blues are preparing to return for one of their targets from last summer – Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The centre back is linked as a potential replacement for John Terry, whose time at Staamford Bridge looks finally set to come to an end this summer. Napoli chariman Aurelio Di Laurentiis confirmed last year that he had turned down a monster bid from the Blues for his defender, and Antonio Conte will likely have to break the club’s existing transfer record of £50m – paid for Fernando Torres from Liverpool – to get Koulibaly.
Conte is said to be a huge fan of the defender, but with Kurt Zouma, Nathan Ake and the returning Andreas Christensen all set to battle with the three first choice centre halves already in place this summer, competition will be red hot for a place in the Blues’ back line.
