Chelsea target learned English in preparation for transfer

Chelsea target Leonardo Bonucci has admitted that he was learning English at one point when he was expecting a transfer to the Premier League.

Bonucci was a rock for Antonio Conte both at Juventus and in the Italian national team, meaning that it didn’t take long after the manager’s arrival in London for the papers to begin linking the defender with the coach who played such an important role in developing him into one of the top defenders in the game.

However Bonucci’s admission, which was quoted in the Metro today, comes from an interview with “Premium Sport” in which he does not specifically name Chelsea when talking about previous summers in which he had come close to a move, instead simply confessing that he had begun brushing up his language skills when it became clear that a move away from Turin might be on the cards.

Instead the Italy international has stayed put with the Old Lady and remains a sough after target for teams all over the world.
