Chelsea have today been linked with Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio in the Spanish press.
The winger is a bit part player at the Bernabeu, although he has played more than expected under Zinedine Zidane thanks to injuries to Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema at different points over the last few years.
The Spaniard has been hugely impressive in the appearances he’s made, including last weekend against Eibar where he filled in for the suspended Bale.
But according to Spanish transfer rumour site Don Balon, the former Mallorca man isn’t happy with the opportunities he’s been getting, and would consider a move away from the club.
There’s certainly an excess of attacking talent at Madrid, and one of Asensio, James and Isco is almost certain to leave this summer. But with all three playing important roles for Zidane this season it’s impossible to predict which one the Frenchman will decide is surplus to requirements.
Asensio would be a great buy for the Blues, but they may have to wait for their moment to strike.
