Napoli are eyeing a summer swoop for Chelsea youngster Bertrand Traore, report Calciomercato.
Traore is widely considered one of the most exciting of Chelsea’s plethora of youngsters. One of the most difficult thing for the Blues to achieve throughout their access was to bridge the gap for the club’s youngsters to the first-team. Traore almost crossed that bridge, and was used often by Guus Hiddink during the Dutchman’s short spell at the club.
However, upon Antonio Conte’s arrival at the club at the Bridge in the summer, it became clear that he was not going to be getting any regular first-team football. He subsequently joined Dutch giants Ajax on loan until the season’s end.
Traore has bagged seven goals for Ajax so far this term, and it appears to have captured the attention of one of Italy’s biggest sides. Calciomercato report that Napoli are interested in signing Traore as a potential replacement for Dries Mertens. It remains to be seen how much we’ll demand to part with him.
It seems strange that Chelsea would part with Traore, who has an extremely high ceiling, when he seems to fit perfectly into Conte’s 3-4-3 system.
