Chelsea stalwart could join Premier League rival in the summer

Chelsea captain John Terry could defy his beloved club’s wishes and move to a Premier League counterpart in the summer, according to The Sun.

Terry has written his name into the Chelsea hall of fame through an 18-year career with the Blues. The former England international has made 713 appearances for the club, only Peter Bonetti and Ron Harris have made more. He has also found the back of the net 66 times from the heart of the defence.

He has been a cornerstone in Chelsea’s side throughout the most successful period in the club’s history, winning 16 pieces of silverware, including four Premier League titles and the coveted Champions League.

However, his time at Stamford Bridge appears to be coming to an end. As The Sun report, Terry’s contract is coming to an end at the season’s end, and it appears unlikely that he will be offered an extension to his current deal.

The Sun report that Terry had been expected to sign a lucrative deal with a side in the MLS or Chinese Super League – but his intentions have now changed. The tabloid believe that Terry is prepared to go against the wishes of the club and join a Premier League rival. There will likely be no shortage of interest…
