Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit of cover at right wing back after they suffered a shocking home defeat to Crystal Palace.
The talk before the game was surrounding Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, who were rumoured to be doubtful for the game, so when they were shown to be fit to start, most Chelsea fans were relatively relaxed about the loss of Victor Moses.
However things worked out badly for the Blues, with Conte’s team lacking Moses’ presence and speed down the right.
It’s no surprise then to see Chelsea apparently ramping up their interest in cover at right wing back, with Atalanta defender Andrea Conti now apparently top of their list. Italian outlet La Gezzetta dello Sport says he would cost just €15m, a small price to pay for vital cover in an important position for Chelsea.
He would join name-alikes Antonio Conte and N’Golo Kante at Stamford Bridge, which looks as though it may be becoming even more of a commentator’s nightmare in the near future.
