Premier League champions Leicester are attempting an outrageous swoop for Chelsea’s young striker Tammy Abraham.
The Sun claim that the revitalised Foxes have their eye on the striker, who is on loan at Bristol City this season. He has scored 24 goals in all competitions and is turning heads all over the country.
The Blues are already resigned to losing Dominic Solanke on a free transfer this summer after long-running talks between the youngster and the club finally broke down in January. Antonio Conte looked resigned to the fact that the striker would walk away for nothing when his deal expires.
This should be extra motivation for the club to keep hold of Abraham, whose asking price is rising week-on-week as he continues to prove himself at a level not far off that of the Premier League.
It’s hard to see this Leicester bid coming to much, but it’s an important reminder that Chelsea need to focus on keeping their brightest prospects, not let them leave just as they reach maturity.
