Juan Cuadrado celebrates after scoring for Juventus last season.

Juventus close to sign Juan Cuadrado on permanent transfer

Chelsea could be completing their first transfer of the summer already as Juventus are reportedly close to sign Blues winger Juan Cuadrado on permanent basis, following yet another successful loan spell in Turin.

The Colombian forward signed for Chelsea from Fiorentina during the January transfer window in 2015 but his half-a-year at Stamford Bridge was enough to prove signing him was a mistake and that the English Premier League clearly was not meant for him.

Juan Cuadrado’s six months at Chelsea proved he wasn’t meant to succeed in England.

He moved on loan to Juventus the very next season and was quickly back to his best, renewing his temporary deal at the Serie A side again at the start of this season.

Cuadrado penned a three-year loan deal with the club last summer, and now they hope to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent deal, according to Italian newspaper Calciomercato.

The source believes signing Cuadrado would cost Juventus around £21m (€25m) and that the deal is all but done, as Chelsea and Juve still need to agree on the bonuses of the deal.

Also, Cuadrado doesn’t earn more than £48,000-a-week currently, and the Old Lady will need to offer him a proper pay rise in hope of completing the switch.
