Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has confirmed he spoke with the Chelsea manager last summer about a possible move.
His club had triggered their clause to bring the forward back but weren’t sure whether to make a profit by selling him on in the same window.
In quotes carried by the Metro, the striker confirmed that he had spoken to Antonio Conte – as well as Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino – about a potential move to London and the Premier League.
But Real Madrid ended up deciding to keep the striker in the Spanish capital as backup to Karim Benzema. It’s a decision that is working out for the club, with the forward netting 16 goals in relatively few starts this term, but the Spaniard is keen to move to a club where he can play more often, so a move to the Premier League will be suggested once again this summer.
