Fiorentina offer Bernardeschi new contract to prevent Chelsea move

Federico Bernardeschi has been offered a new deal by Fiorentina as the Italian club look to secure their glittering prospect for the long term.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Tuscan club will offer their rising star €2.5m per year net, as well as the captain’s armband. He also notes the interest of Juventus and Inter in the future of the youngster. Juve are a particular threat, given the way they have hoovered up the most talented stars of Serie A in recent years.

Bernardeschi has long been considered a top talent but has taken his game to the next level this year with some outstanding performances in Serie A. Whether he feels his development is best served by staying in Tuscany rather than rolling the dice remains to be seen, but what is certain is that his putting pen to paper on a new deal in Italy would end Chelsea’s interest in him, for now at least.
