The paper reports that Courtois hurt his ankle after getting ‘carried away’ and that Alonso ‘limped out’ of the warmup after taking part in the same shoot.
What is confusing about this is the way it contradicts the news being reported by the rest of the media. Every other outlet has suggested that Alonso left the warmup because he was unwell rather than injured, and some have even asserted that Courtois will be fit for the weekend’s games.
Whether the Mirror know something that the others don’t, or whether they are simply reporting erroneous information, remains to be seen. What is certain is that Antonio Conte will be desperate to get his stars back for the crunch game at Wembley.
