Chelsea youngster to change his nationality for Nigeria

Chelsea’s Three Lions U21 star Ola Aina is set to snub playing for England’s national team and choose to represent Nigeria in his upcoming national career, according to The Sun.

The 20-year-old full-back was born and raised in England, but his decision is based on his family roots, as he wants to play for the country where both of his parents were born.

He’ll have to apply to Fifa to officially change his allegiance:

“The documentation has been done, and in the next week it will be submitted to Fifa for approval.

How fast Fifa and the FA in England work on this will determine how soon Aina’s application will come through.”

Nigerian FA, The Sun

Aina made his Chelsea debut in the Premier League when the Blues cruised into a 3-0 victory seven months ago, and his last appearance for the Blues was in Chelsea’s 3-2 EFL Cup victory over Bristol Rovers in August.
