Cesc Fabregas: “Winning title in England is much harder than in Spain”

Well, that’s the truth right there from Cesc Fabregas. The Spanish midfielder backs the claims of the higher competitiveness in the Premier League compared to the Spanish top-flight.

Fabregas himself has won the La Liga once at Barcelona, but is now ready to lift the Premier League title for the second time during his Blues era – first at 2014/15 and now at the end of the 2016/17 season.

The 30-year-old suggests the Premier League is the best league of all European first division competitions, and says that winning the title here gives you that ‘special feeling’ that you can’t get elsewhere.

“There’s something about winning this trophy from the other ones that I was very lucky to win, probably the biggest things in football. Winning the Premier League trophy is something special, it gives you a special feeling.

Having played in Spain and watching a lot of football as I do – Germany, France and Italy – this is the best league in the world.

Maybe it does not have the best players in the world, but it’s the most competitive and most difficult league to win, for sure.

To be able to win it two times in three years at Chelsea is something to be very proud of.

When asked why would Fabregas think that the Premier League beats the rest, his simple response is how any team can beat another side, as all games are unpredictable.

“Why is it so tough? Anyone can beat you. That’s the thing. I’ve played in Spain, there was many games where you had to do really, really bad to drop points.

Here, every game is tough and that’s why next year, with the Champions League as well, we will have to be at the top of our game to compete again for the Premier League.”
