Chelsea have built up a huge amount of money selling players in the last 12 months, and fans are seriously excited to see Antonio Conte spend serious money on top players to catapult this squad back to the top of the Champions League once again.
Once of those departing was Asmir Begovic however, and his departure means a transfer chase of a less exciting nature. The Blues now need a new backup goalkeeper after letting Bosnian Begovic leave for Bournemouth, and they’ve got one in their sights according to CalcioMercato. PSG’s current number two, the interestingly named Alphonse Areola is the man apparently on the Blues’ radar.
There really is nothing more boring than the “transfer chase” of a reserve goalkeeper, a player who you hope will never see any action at all. Of course having a good number two is vitally important – and Begovic was about as good as it got. But it’s still hardly the kind of signing that Blues fans are keen to see this summer.
