Chelsea were placed third in the table before this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, and could’ve moved both ways depending on the other clubs’ resultsm and their own result against Manchester City.
As things turned out, the Blues lost to Man City, helping the Citizens climb up to the top of the table ahead of their fierce rivals Manchester United, who won Crystal Palace 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. Chelsea were thus left onto the fourth position, as Tottenham also hammered Huddersfield Town, moving up to third place.
Chelsea could’ve gone down by one more place, as Liverpool had the chance to move above Antonio Conte’s side in a battle with Newcastle. But against all odds, Rafa Benitez’s Toon Army were able to hold the Reds to a 1-1 tie, leaving Liverpool all the way onto the 7th place.
Arsenal were also victorious over Brighton earlier today, but their worse goal difference leaves them right behind Chelsea.
