Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has taken a dig at Chelsea, wondering about the London rivals’ decision to let go of young centre-forward Eddie Nketiah after the Englishman scored a brace against Norwich City on Tuesday night.
The Gunners were in a pickle against the Championship side last night and needed a hero to save them from a trailing position with five minutes left on the clock. On came former Blue Nketiah, who immediately scored his first goal for Arsenal’s first-team to take Arsenal level.

With the Arsenal fans finally seeing their beloved team broke the deadlock, Nketiah took the advantage of the momentum, heading in the winning goal on extra-time.
With a two goals to his name on his second Arsenal appearance, Wenger questioned why did Chelsea even decide to let go of the 18-year-old prospect in the first place.
“I don’t know what happened at Chelsea. He has scored goals at youth level and sometimes I don’t know why they let him go.
I don’t know why. You see that more and more. Young people travel from one club to another. I don’t know.
He has top quality and is one of player who was with me in pre-season and I knew what he could do.
Life gives a chance to young people and hopefully he will make a long career at Arsenal. We are proud to give young players a chance.â€
– Arsene Wenger
Nketiah, born in 1999, began his career at Chelsea, but wasn’t offered a professional at Stamford Bridge. He thus decided to move on and found himself a new path at Arsenal.
Hopefully he won’t end up becoming a huge star we’ll regret selling later on in life. Romelu Lukaku, Kevin de Bruyne, Mohamed Salah – we’ve had enough of them already!
