Chelsea planning to offer technical director’s role to club legend Frank Lampard

Chelsea were struck with some big news yesterday when Michael Emenalo decided to step down from his role as the club’s techincal director.

The 52-year-old Nigerian resigned from his high position after a 10-ten year spell at the club, and Chelsea are now looking for his successor ahead of January’s transfer window.

As many fans have already suggested on social media, Emenalo’s replacement could and ‘should’ be a former player of the club. And according to Matthew Dunn from the Express, Chelsea are considering to offer the role to club legend Frank Lampard.

The Englishman hanged up his playing boots this year and is looking to take on to a next stage on his career. It’s fair to say that Emenalo’s boots would be very big to fill even for Lampard, but the club are reportedly looking for someone who knows the club from inside out, and in that case the 29-year-old fits the bill perfectly.

Lampard could also be a very good person to try and fix the ‘weakened’ relationship between club owner Roman Abramovich and manager Antonio Conte.
