Frank Lampard has confirmed that he’s in conversation with Derby about taking over their vacant manager post, with various media outlets including Squawka carrying the midfielder’s quotes on the subject.
Derby’s last manager Gary Rowett has just moved to relegated Stoke after they were knocked out of the playoffs by Fulham, leaving a space at one of the Championship’s top clubs for a manager.
It seems like a good starting point for Frank, who we would love to one day have on the bench at Stamford Bridge. Derby are an upwardly mobile and well run club where he will have enough money to improve an already solid squad.
Maurizio Sarri is going to be a huge gamble for Chelsea, and that odds are against him surviving more than two years. If Lamps is a huge success in the Midlands, we could see him linked with yet another vacancy at Stamford Bridge very soon indeed.
