Napoli chief attacker Lorenzo Insigne has given the biggest indication yet that former boss Maurizio Sarri is joining Chelsea this summer.
Sarri has been linked with the Blues job for several months and the rumors have intensified in the last few weeks after Napoli hired Carlo Ancelotti to take over the reigns. However, he is still under contract with the runners up in the Serie A and Chelsea have to remain in negotiations with the Italians to at least reduce the stated release clause of €8m.
Despite the delay in his announcement as new head coach of the club, Sarri and Chelsea hold believe they will marry their pens and papers this summer, to begin some seamless progression in the coming season.
To add more solidity to the rumors, one of Sarri’s most trusted allies at Napoli – after making 37 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing eleven assists – Insigne has dropped a hint his former mentor is on his way to Chelsea.
If I sit on the Chelsea bench, I will be happy because he did well with Napoli and our football was appreciated by everyone.
I wish him good luck and I hope he brings his mentality there.
