Chelsea are still considering a number of managers for the role at Stamford Bridge and among them is Laurent Blanc, the former Paris Saint Germain manager, whose ‘squad management’ appeals to top officials in London.
Sport Witness quotes France Football as saying that Chelsea are interested in Laurent Blanc for his overall qualities but mostly his squad management skills, an attribute he most likely would require at the Chelsea.
Blanc has reportedly appeared as the leader in Chelsea’s managerial hunt this post season. Talks with Napoli’s former head coach Maurizio Sarri has broken down after his release clause of €8m proves a stumbling block for Roman Abramovich’s entourage with Football Italia saying Blues won’t meet Napoli’s demands.
With Chelsea set to pay Antonio Conte £9m as compensation for his sack despite having a year remaining on his contract, the Blues do not want to pay another hefty amount to set him free sign for the Blues.
Gabrielle Marcotti writes for France Football that Chelsea are now considering Blanc the most among the list of managers capable of replacing Conte in the coming summer, including talks that have resumed with Luis Enrique.
