Chelsea are not making the right decisions and not getting their acts right after the season they just had, according to former midfielder Michael Ballack.
Ballack, respected by all Chelsea fans and adored by teammates was very equivocal in his remarks about what he wants the club to do in the next few months to get back on track.
The Blues under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte suffered terrible seasons, finishing way below eventual champions twice in the last three seasons. The title in the year between, added gloss to a very blur future.
In the just ended season, Chelsea finished 30 points behind Manchester City who could have won the title with two months to go, if they maintained their stunning run of form. Chelsea’s position and point difference could have been far worse.
The Blues also failed in two cup competitions except the FA Cup they won against Man United in the final and Ballack thinks these are dangerous signs and the club needs to rethink its ideas and direction.
It’s not what Chelsea is asking for, running so far behind. Chelsea with its history shouldn’t have different ambitions. You have to think about what happened the last three years.
Finishing fifth is not good enough for Chelsea, and especially in the last three seasons not qualifying for the Champions League twice. It’s a sign, it’s a development with which you have to be careful. You have to question yourself inside Chelsea to see what you have done right and what you have done wrong.
