Chelsea enter race with Juventus to sign one of Italy’s most versatile players

Chelsea are reportedly in the race to sign AS Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi this summer, after contract talks broke down between the two parties.

The versatile players has been one of Roma’s most trusted players in their stunning season. They advanced to the semi finals of the Champions League and easily made another top four place in the Italian Serie although falling way below eventual winners Juventus who had a two-horse battle with Napoli.

Napoli’s former boss Maurizio Sarri is expected to take over the reigns at Chelsea but a deal has not been struck yet.

But Chelsea are moving in for Florenzi, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Chelsea will challenge Juventus and Inter Milan who have all kept an eye on the progress of Florenzi’s contract talks with the Giallorossi.

Florenzi played 45 times for Roma last season, scoring two goals and grabbing five assists while playing at right back most often and sometimes in midfield.
