Chelsea may be interested in doing business with a foreign club instead of a local club with the demand being placed on Barcelona after they expressed interest in signing Willian this summer.
The 29-year old has attracted interest from Manchester United after Jose Mourinho was announced manager of the Red Devils but the Blues are unwilling to sell one of their best players to a direct rival in the Premier League.
Their initial reaction to Man United’s interest in snatching Willian may have signaled a general unwillingness to discuss any deal for the Brazil international. But all that may have changed with the Blues readiness to quote an asking price to Barcelona after rejecting their initial offer of £50 million, as per Sky Sports.
Now according to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have told Barcelona to put 70 million on the table and whisk their target, who scored 13 goals and grabbed 12 assists last season, away from England.
That may not sit too well with the La Liga champions who, despite their interest in signing a player to fill the boots of Andres Iniesta, will also consider the age of Willian, who turns 30 next year and may not have the legs to play his usual energetic style in a couple of years.
