Several fans can be allowed to be fed up with the club’s transfer dealings this summer following a rather regrettable season that encompassed two almost disastrous transfer windows.
There have been several players linked with the Premier League giants but none has arrived despite three or more weeks of transfer window spent. Last season saw the Blues get knocked off their perch in the Premier League race and fell way below the champions Manchester City in the end. Finishing fifth meant this transfer window, was to be the most aggressive by the Blues hierarchy, but it has been anything but.
The managerial uncertainty at the club means the club’s currently lacks technical direction. Antonio Conte remains in charge but does not have the required power to make demands with various reports in Italy saying he will be replaced by former Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri.
The likes of Gonzalo Higuain has been linked in recent times to no avail after his brother said on Wednesday that the striker will remain in Italy according to Evening Standard.
He is not the only star player to have been linked with the Blues due to the imminent arrival of Sarri. As per Metro, other Napoli stars including Kalidou Koulibaly, Dries Mertens, Jose Maria Callejon and full-back Elseid Hysaj have all been reportedly handed to Chelsea as part of Sarri transfer wishlist.
Robert Lewandowski was also linked to the club, but according to the Daily Star, that deal is off. Mauro Icardi is one of the many Italian Serie A players reportedly on Blues radar, but he also has seen his move fail.
With rival clubs sealing deals and firming up transfer policies ahead of next season, Chelsea fans can only wish for the best at this moment in the promisingly grueling season.
