Chelsea are about to enter a frenzy end to the transfer market after several of their key players’ future are unsolved and it remains to be seen whether they will move or not from Stamford Bridge.
For the lot of them, Maurizio Sarri is unwilling to let them leave as he feels they would play a key part in his transformation at the club in the coming weeks.
But for one he may have played his last season. According to Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy via Sport Witness, Sarri has specifically asked Chelsea’s top chiefs to sign Matias Vecino to beef up his options in midfield this season, despite having brought in Jorginho from Napoli.
The move is said to involve last summer purchase Tiemoue Bakayoko, who has failed to make a good impression in his maiden season at the club. Bakayoko could be added to the deal that will send Vecino the other way, as Inter Milan are interested in signing a combative midfielder for next season.
It is unclear where the other Chelsea midfielder will be placed in the squad if this deal goes through as Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante will all be aiming to start under Sarri, while Ruben Loftus Cheek also will be in the squad next season.
